Learn the difference between good ads and the bad ones

Solution to block bad ads

We should all be able to make the difference between good and bad ads, as we browse the internet. But doing this might not at all be an easy task.

What are good or unharmful commercials?

In fact, there might be more than one description for good or unharmful ads.

They do not use third-party cookies. Which means they do not appear based on users’ behaviour, previous searches or data introduced on other websites.

In fact, a new search engine serves ads, without using cookies to display them based on the users’ behaviour or habits. And the Vivaldi browser is already using it.

Also, besides the fact that they do not affect users’ safety and never collect personal data, good ads should be fair. They should never mislead users or fool them to click on links that then offer something else or land on fake websites.

Bad ads might mean different things

Most of the commercials that you see around the internet after you visit a website might be called bad. That’s because they collect data about your online behaviour and yourself. Then, they take advantage of that data to follow you everywhere, online.

But the definition might also refer to those commercials that mislead users into clicking them. So, they take users to websites which have as their main goal to collect data. Or they might just trick users that they represent some official entities, which is not true.

How to make the difference?

Whenever you see that an ad for the same product appears on more websites, as you browse, you might consider it bad. That’s because it already used third-party cookies in order to follow you. It is a matter of choice for you to agree if this affects you or not.

Also, when you are called to click on a commercial that will take you to an URL which seems to be legitimate, check it carefully. Thus, you can make sure you do not land on a fake page.

However, you might consider that ads which appear on websites that provide premium content, are good. Still, are they usually based on third-party cookies. For the moment, if you want to access that content you have to accept them or pay a subscription.

But how many websites do you appreciate? This would mean you have to pay a lot of money to see the content without interruptions (such as YouTube videos) or annoying commercials.

With Ad Guardian Plus, which is a Windows native solution, you can see content without ads. Or you may choose to see them on the website you like most and want to support. But it should always be your choice.
As it is not an ad-on, Ad Guardian Plus would not affect your browser’s speed! Moreover, websites will not take time to load banners and commercial slots, which means a new speed boost. It natively works with all your browsers and apps.

One of the most important things is that websites that you visit will not collect your personal data, so you should not worry about the horrors that come with the identity theft.
